There’s something so nostalgic about those little store-bought chocolate chip mini muffins: soft, sweet, perfectly poppable, and somehow gone in five minutes. But when you flip over the ingredient label? Not so nostalgic. These Copycat Lil Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins give you that same fluffy, chocolate-studded magic — without the preservatives, artificial flavors, or overly processed oils.
I wanted to recreate that classic lunchbox favorite in a way that feels aligned with how we cook and eat in our home: simple ingredients, better swaps, and a little boost of nourishment. Instead of refined sugar, we’re using coconut sugar for a more natural sweetness. Creamy yogurt keeps them incredibly moist while adding protein, and real butter + real vanilla bring that cozy, homemade flavor you just can’t get from a box. They bake up soft, tender, and perfectly mini — just like the originals but made right in your own kitchen.
These are the kind of muffins you can feel good about keeping on hand for busy mornings, snack boards, or tossing into a lunchbox. They freeze beautifully (major mom win), come together in minutes, and make 24 adorable little bites of chocolatey goodness. Same nostalgic vibe… just upgraded.
