hot Honey Chicken salad

There’s something about a Hot Honey Chicken Salad that just hits every craving at once sweet, savory, spicy, crunchy, and unbelievably satisfying. This salad is my go-to when I want something nourishing but still crave big flavor. The chicken gets pan-seared until golden, then tossed in a glossy honey-garlic glaze with a kick of heat that caramelizes around the edges. Paired with crisp romaine, fresh veggies, and a cool, herby homemade ranch, every bite is layered with the perfect balance of heat and freshness.

Like everything I make, this recipe leans into clean, high-quality ingredients that make a real difference in the final dish. I use Bell & Evans organic chicken for the best texture and pure flavor their air-chilled process creates a sear you just can’t get from water-chilled chicken. Fresh organic produce brings vibrant color and crunch to the salad, and the Chosen Foods avocado mayo in the ranch adds richness without any seed oils or fillers. You can taste the difference in every forkful: simple, nutrient-dense ingredients that elevate a classic salad into something you’ll actually crave.

What I love most about this recipe is how customizable and meal-prep friendly it is. The hot honey chicken stores beautifully, the homemade ranch stays thick and creamy for days, and the salad base can be chopped ahead for quick lunches or easy weeknight dinners. Whether you’re looking for a lighter meal that still feels cozy, a flavorful lunch that keeps you full, or a crowd-pleasing bowl you can set on the table in under 30 minutes, this Hot Honey Chicken Salad checks every box. It’s fresh, fiery, comforting, and absolutely delicious

  • Bell & Evans Organic Chicken – Their chickens are raised without antibiotics or added hormones, fed a 100% organic, all-vegetable diet, and humanely cared for from hatch to harvest. What truly sets them apart is their air-chilled process. Instead of using chlorinated water baths like many brands, Bell & Evans air-chills their chicken resulting in better flavor, improved texture, and no added water weight. It means a crispier sear, juicier bites, and a more pure, natural taste. I trust it every time I want to serve something clean, simple, and truly delicious.
  • Organic Vegetables– Organic produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or GMOs, preserving natural nutrients and flavors while reducing exposure to toxins. Opting for fresh, organic vegetables ensures you’re getting the cleanest, most nutrient-dense ingredients in every bit
  • Chosen Foods Avocado Mayo – Made with real, wholesome ingredients and heart-healthy avocado oil instead of inflammatory seed oils like canola or soybean. It’s free from added sugars, artificial preservatives, and GMOs, making it a cleaner option for everyday meals. Rich in monounsaturated fats and full of flavor, it’s a nourishing swap that supports better health without sacrificing taste.

Hot Honey Chicken Salad

Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Chicken
  • 1/4 cup Hot Sauce
  • 2 heads Romaine Lettuce (chopped)
  • 1 medium Red Onion
  • 1 medium Red Pepper
  • 1 cup Carrots (chopped)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 large Cucumber

Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 7 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch

Ranch Dressing:

  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • 1/2 cup Chosen Foods Avocado Mayo
  • Seasonings: Dill, Cilantro, Chives

Instructions

  1. To make the honey garlic sauce: In a small saucepan add the soy sauce, honey, 5 cloves of garlic (~ 1 Tablespoon), and rice vinegar. Whisk to combine. In a small bowl combine the water and the cornstarch. Stir with a spoon until all of the cornstarch has dissolved and then pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan as well. Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisking regularly, bring to a boil. Once the sauce is boiling, lower the heat a little bit and let it boil for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the remaining minced garlic cloves (~½ tablespoon).Transfer the sauce to a container or serving bowl and let cool slightly or completely before serving.
  2. Season your chicken lightly with salt and pepper, then heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add a drizzle of oil, then cook the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Reduce the heat to low and pour the honey garlic sauce and hot sauce over the chicken, turning to coat. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until glossy and thickened. Remove from the pan and cut the chicken into bite-size pieces.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, sour cream, and avocado mayo. Add chopped dill, cilantro, and chives to taste. Whisk until smooth, then adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Add the chopped romaine to a large bowl, then layer on the red onion, red pepper, carrots, cucumber, and cheddar cheese. Add the hot honey chicken on top.
  5. Drizzle generously with homemade ranch dressing, toss if desired, and enjoy immediately. For extra heat, finish with a swirl of hot sauce or a drizzle of leftover honey garlic sauce.
